1 antique Japanese WW2 Army tanto available. This Japanese tanto sword would make an important addition to any collection.
Japanese officers were allowed to carry katanas during World War 2. Enlisted were not allowed to—many of these men carried a tanto sword like this one in their packs to invoke the spirit of the Samurai.
This tanto sword has a sayagaki on the saya--Japanese kanji.
The mumei blade measures 8”. This tanto measures 14 1/8” overall with its saya/scabbard. This tanto has a nice oil-tempered hamon.
The blade is in pretty decent polish. There are some scratches on the blade. There are some little dents on the back of the scabbard.
