1 hard-to-find U.S. World War 2 combat knife available. This knife is described by collectors as the 'short combat knife with M6-type sheath'. This ID'd knife would make an important addition to any military knife collection.
The knife offered here is a fine example of this combat model. The handle and sheath have matching serial numbers '349'. The wood handle is stamped on each side with this number. In addition, the soldier marked his name on the pommel 'JOSEPH HENNESSY'. The blade has the usual mark 'BCD' engraved in electric pencil.
This knife has a brass pommel and an iron guard. One side of the blade is flat on these knives. The other side has a raised middle ridge. The short scabbard is made in the same style as the early M3 trench knife's M6 scabbard. The scabbard is stamped with the soldier's name again, as well as his unit 'JOSEPH JOHN HENNESSY F. C. 1/C DIV F' (Fire Controlman First Class in a ship’s Division F).
This knife and sheath are in exceptional condition.
