1 banner-etched World War II 2nd pattern Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife available. This ID'd knife would make a rare addition to any World War II, or world militaria collection.
The front tang is etched 'THE F-S FIGHTING KNIFE'. The reverse tang is etched 'WILKINSON SWORD LONDON'. There are no markings on the guard.
As mentioned above, this knife is identified to the G.I. that carried it. During the buildup of Allied troops in England prior to D-Day, U.S. G.I.'s noticed the Brits' Wilkinson commando knives. Some of the U.S. paratroopers and G.I.'s that could afford it went to Wilkinson to buy themselves a commando F/S. For an extra fee they could get their names etched on the blade.
This knife is etched 'HAROLD L. BOHN O-571031'. Having his name and serial number makes this G.I.'s service record fully researchable.
This World War 2 Wilkinson 2nd Pattern F-S is quite nearly perfect. Just the very tip of the blade is blunted a bit. The guard and handle are perfect.
This listing represents the opportunity to add an exceptional fully-ID'd banner etched Wilkinson Sword 2nd Pattern F/S fighting knife to your collection.
