1 antique World War II Japanese samurai army officer's gendaito sword available. This WW2 Officer's katana was made by Emura. Swords by Emura are highly sought-after by collectors. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The tang is signed 'Emura saku'.
This sword was struck by a G.I.'s bullet. The original tsuka/handle was heavily damaged by the bullet strike so the handle was recently replaced with a different original WW2 sword handle. The damage to the nakago is shown in one of the photographs above, as well as in one of the photographs at the bottom of this listing. The original tsuka will be sent with this sword to be kept with the sword (tape is holding the same/rayskin to the bullet-damaged tsuka--using glue would make the tsuka suitable for display).
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The blade measures 25 13/16" (65.6 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This fine sword has a straight hamon/temper line.
The tsuba and each seppa, etc. all have the matching assembly number '8'.
The saya/scabbard has the higher quality spatter-lacquer finish.
There is just one tiny nail-catcher in the blade edge. The blade had a clean-up polish done on it. There is a very occasional spot of light pitting on the blade. The blade is perfectly straight. The tsuka wrap is perfect. There is not a single dent in the saya. The saya is perfect. The locking mechanism works perfectly.
This rare Japanese Army Officer's katana sword by Emura, with its historical G.I. bullet strike, would make an important addition to any collection.
This sword cannot be shipped to mainland Russia, China, or Taiwan. These countries' Customs services will not allow the import of swords.
