1 very fine World War 2 gendai sword available.  This is an exceptional Special Order sword.  This sword is signed on the nakago 'Tame Yoshi Gawa uji Harukunu saku kore'--made for Mr. Yoshigawa by Harukuni.  A special order sword is a desirable piece.

While I was at the Minneapolis Sword Show, Chris Bowen pointed out to me the exceptional quality of this sword--I hadn't even noticed prior to our conversation.  He pointed out to me the utsuri in the blade--a characteristic typically seen in only the best Kamakura/Nanbokucho swords.

This long katana measures 27 9/16" from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the mune/spine.  This sword is dated on the reverse side of the nakago Dec. 8th, 1941--the Japanese date of the attack on Pearl Harbor (due to the Intl Date Line; so Dec. 7, 1941 in Honolulu). 

For those of you who viewed the original listing of this sword--I had originally described it as having been dedicated the day after Pearl Harbor, but I received comments from a number of WW2 enthusiasts that in Japan, due to the International Date Line, Dec. 8th is the date of the attack on Pearl Harbor.  

This handmade sword has its habaki with no other mounts. 

This long Special Order gendai sword is in original Japanese polish.  There is an occasional surface spot from past oxidation.  This sword is perfectly healthy.
