1 antique World War II Japanese Samurai Army Officer's sword available. This WW2 Army Officer's sword has a signed 17th Century blade. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.
All military fittings are of the highest quality. In fact, this sword has a red shagreen (sharkskin) saya. Red sharkskin saya are found in only roughly 1 in 5000 Army swords. We have only owned 4 or 5 in over a decade as dealers of Japanese military swords.
The blade measures 20 13/16" (52.9 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
In addition to the red sharkskin saya, other fittings are of the same quality. This sword has 8 seppa (4 sets of different colored seppa found in more expensive mounts). The tsuba is thinner than many, and is plated in 24kt gold. This kashira/kabutogane has a fine cherry blossom sarute. All fittings have the matching assembly number '1'.
The blade has the correct signature of 15 pt. swordsmith Sukekane. The nakago is signed Ueno no Kami Fujiwara Sukekane. This swordsmith worked from 1688 to 1704 A.D.
The blade has scratches and tiny nicks. All would polish out easily. This is a beautiful blade. The blade is perfectly straight. The tsuka wrap is excellent. The saya is in excellent condition. The locking mechanism works perfectly.
This premium Japanese Army Officer's sword with Old Family Blade and Red Sharkskin Saya would make an important addition to any collection.
