Antique 19th Century Japanese tanto sword available.  This Japanese tanto would make a fine addition to any collection.

This tanto has an unusual blade--real, tempered, etc. but almost of the style of a boys day sword.  The insigned blade has a nagasa/cutting edge of 17 cm (6 11/16").  

The matching fuchi kashira are nice--the kashira has a gold signature.  The fuchi has a thin gold wire inlay.  The shito-dome fitting has a desirable tiger motif.  

The blade is healthy.  It looks to me like the habachi was originally a 2-piece habaki--only one piece is still present.
