1 antique late 1500's A.D. Japanese Samurai katana available.  This Samurai katana would make a fine addition to any antique edged weapons collection.

The fuchi and kashira are a matching set.  The fuchi features Samurai shoulder armor and a mempo (face armor).  The fuchi is signed 'Soten'.  The matching kashira is made in the shape of a Samurai kabuto (helmet).  The menuki are fu dogs.  The tsuba/guard is a Tenbo stamped tsuba.  Some of the stampings are Japanese kanji/letters.

This katana has a nice long blade.  The blade measures 27 7/16" (69.7 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.

The nakago/tang is unsigned.  The original Samurai wood saya/scabbard has a leather combat cover over it.  In addition, the kashira/pommel fitting has a sarute loop.  So this Samurai sword was carried during World War 2.

This antique Japanese Samurai katana is excellent.  There are no nicks of any mentionable size in the blade.  The blade edge is nearly perfect.  There is some occasional carbon staining on the blade surface.  The blade is perfectly straight.  There are no fatal flaws in this sword.

This late 1500's A.D. Samurai katana, with its Samurai armor motif Soten fittings and nice long blade, would make an important addition to any antique edged weapons collection.
