1 vintage WW2 Japanese Imperial Navy Officer's katana. This WW2 Naval Officer's sword would make a fine addition to any collection.
This sword is signed and dated. The swordsmith is Kanemasa. The blade measures 25 15/16" (65.9 cm) (measured properly from the blade tip to the notch in the blade spine).
This Navy katana has a wavy hamon/temper line. The saya is black lacquer over wood. All fittings have matching assembly numbers. The seppa, tsuba, fuchi, etc. are all stamped '98'.
This sword is in nice condition. The sword fits perfectly in the saya. The blade has an ever so slight bend. I didn't even notice it until just now when I sighted down the blade--so it's not noticeable at all. The blade has no pitting or staining of any kind. The blade has occasional areas of sharpening. There is only one tiny, rather unmentionable nick in the blade edge. The wavy temper line is visible along the entire blade edge. The silk handle wrap was unraveling so the vet that brought this sword back tied the silk in a knot to keep it from unraveling further. The saya's lacquer has occasional chips.
The temper line and boshi are perfectly healthy. This sword is guaranteed against fatal flaws.
