1 rare antique 1800's A.D. Japanese Samurai katana sword. This sword has World War 2 Army fittings as well as Samurai fittings.
This sword is the same length as an Army Officer's katana, but the blade and fittings are all half the normal size. The fuchi and saya/scabbard are martial/military. The tsuba, menuki, kashira, and blade are Samurai.
One set of menuki are Samurai family mon. The other menuki set are 3-5-3 Japanese royal kiri/paulonia flower. The unsigned blade measures 24 1/2" (62.2 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. There is a Japanese surrender/capture tag attached to the saya.
This rare antique Japanese Samurai katana has a perfect fit to its saya. The tsuka/handle fittings are in perfect condition. The handle silk is very old so is fragile--the buyer will want to handle the silk wrapping carefully. The hamon/temper line, and boshi look healthy. The blade has a occasional carbon patina staining. There is some pitting around the blade tip.
This one of a kind antique Japanese Samurai katana would make a rare addition to any collection.
This sword cannot be shipped to mainland Russia, China, or Taiwan. These countries' Customs services will not allow the import of swords.
