The nakago/tang is signed 'Kaneaki'. There are no arsenal stamps on this traditionally-made sword. Kaneaki was rated 2nd Seat at the 1941 Sword Exhibition.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The blade measures 26 1/4" (66.7 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The saya has a fine metal spatter-lacquered finish. This sword has a fine pierced tsuba.
